Welcome to Casa Laguna Inn & Spa
Operated as a tranquil alternative to bustling family-style resorts, Casa Laguna Inn & Spa is the perfect place for a romantic getaway or a relaxing escape from work and worry. Built on a terraced hillside in the 1920s and 40s, today’s Casa Laguna is often compared the to the Mission-style villas of Spain. In order to assure a romantic, calming ambiance, room occupancy is limited to a maximum of two persons regardless of age. Accordingly, our inn would not be suitable for children, infants, groups, or events. Our guests can relax on a garden patio, schedule a massage and therapeutic soak, or take a picnic to nearby Victoria Beach. Our inn is only 1.5 miles from downtown Laguna Beach shops, restaurants, art galleries, and renowned summer art festivals. Public transportation is available just outside our door. Our inn is famous for fabulous gourmet breakfasts. We have been recognized as one of the Top 25 Small Hotels and Top 10 Hotels for Romance in the United States, as well one of the Top Ten Luxury Inns in the world. Read more...

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is Casa Laguna a hotel or a bed & breakfast?
Casa Laguna Inn & Spa is a boutique inn, operated in the bed & breakfast style—that is, we are relatively small (22 rooms); our buildings are historic (built in 1920 and 1946 respectively); and we serve breakfast to our guests each morning. One big difference between Casa Laguna and the “typical” B&B is that we serve a full gourmet breakfast from a menu of up to 8 entrees.
How big are your rooms?
Most of Casa Laguna’s buildings were constructed in 1946, when room sizes were much smaller than today’s average hotel accommodations. Casa Laguna has 5 different room types. Our smaller, “artist rooms” (so called because the size and layout have been retained from the original 1940s architecture) are our most economical and are sufficient for most travelers. Those who are concerned about room size can opt for one of our suites or junior suites. Our Rooms page provides a thorough overview, including the approximate square footage of each room.
What size beds do you offer?
All rooms are booked by room type, not by specific room numbers. Therefore you should assume your room will have a queen bed and nothing smaller.
Are you on the beach?
No. Casa Laguna sits on a terraced hill on the inland side of Pacific Coast Highway. While the ocean is clearly visible from many areas on our property, we are not on the beach and you will not see the sand from our inn. Beautiful Victoria Beach is just a 10-15 minute walk from our door. The short hike to the beach is not strenuous for the average person in good health, but it does require some uphill walking, especially on the return trip.
What if I need to cancel after making a reservation?
Casa Laguna is a small inn, not a large brand-name resort, therefore no-shows and cancellations have a major effect on our ability to remain successful. Thus, our cancellation policies are strictly enforced. You may make changes to your reservation, free of charge, any time up to 3 days (72 hours) prior to your scheduled arrival. If you cancel your reservation prior to 3 days (72 hours) of the scheduled arrival, then your deposit will be refunded in full. If a guest cancels within the 72 hours period the first night room and tax is non-refundable. We encourage all prospective travelers to read hotel policies—especially cancellation policies—before booking a stay. We strongly recommend travel insurance for those who are concerned about the possible need to cancel.
How close is the inn to downtown Laguna Beach?
Casa Laguna Inn & Spa is just 1.5 miles from downtown Laguna Beach shops, eateries, art galleries, and summer art festivals. Laguna Transit, our local public transportation system, stops just outside our door, and we’ll pay for one round trip per day. During the summer festival season, a free trolley also stops at Casa Laguna about every 30 minutes.
Why do I have to pay to use your outdoor Jacuzzi?
Casa Laguna does not have an outdoor Jacuzzi. Jacuzzi style tubs designed to hold a number of people are notoriously unsanitary and frequently invite noisy, boisterous activity not suited to our inn’s romantic, relaxing atmosphere. While we do not have a “public” Jacuzzi, we do have jetted spa tubs in many of our rooms (see the Rooms page). We also offer an outdoor ocean-view therapeutic soak as one of our Spa Services. (See our Spa page for pricing.) Before each soak, the soak tub is drained, sanitized, and refilled with fresh water infused with Himalayan Sea Salt. Thus, we believe the associated charge for this service is quite reasonable.
Do you have air conditioning?
Absolutely. All rooms at Casa Laguna have AC. Many Laguna Beach hotels were built at a time when a cool ocean breeze and an open window was all that was needed to keep your room comfortable. Sadly, due to climate changes, those days are long gone. Yet there are still numerous area hotels that do not have AC.
Can I book a wedding or other event at Casa Laguna?
In order to retain our unique romantic ambiance and to assure the safety and serenity of guests, we do not allow events or non-registered guests on our property.
Do you accept children and pets?
Casa Laguna is geared toward couples and individuals seeking romance and/or relaxation. Room occupancy is limited to two persons per room, regardless of age or relationship. Therefore, our inn would not be considered appropriate for children or infants. Please see Minor Child Responsibility Agreement on our Policies page. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Casa Laguna, subject to the following restrictions: Non-refundable pet fee $100 for your stay, per dog and a two-dog maximum with a 40 lb. limit. Pets may not be left unattended in the room at any time. See our Pet Policies for more details.
Will your chef be able to accommodate my special dietary needs?
Most guests are surprised to learn that many of our gourmet breakfast entrees are suitable for Vegan and/or Gluten-free diets. (See our online Menu.) Please advise a Guest Service Associate of your dietary needs at the time of your arrival so that we can pass this information on to our Executive Chef. It is very rare that we cannot accommodate a need. However, our chef may need to contact you directly for additional information.
Are there restaurants close to the inn?
Casa Laguna is within walking distance of two popular Laguna Beach restaurants, Dizz’s As-Is and Taboo. The short walk to these restaurants is not strenuous for the average person in good health, but it does require some uphill walking through the neighborhood. We strongly recommend you avoid walking along Pacific Coast Highway in areas where there are no sidewalks.
Does Casa Laguna provide a smoking area?
No. The city of Laguna Beach has strict smoking laws, which includes a smoking ban for most Laguna Beach restaurants, businesses, and beaches. For the comfort and well-being of all our guests, Casa Laguna does not permit smoking anywhere on the property. Violators will incur a $250 cleaning fee. We also do not permit candles or any type of open flame or cooking devices of any kind.
What kind of parking does the inn provide?
Casa Laguna has complimentary covered parking for about 60% of our guests when we are fully booked. There is additional overflow parking along the parking lot perimeter wall. Our covered parking requires you to turn wide and go in straight between support poles, which can make some people nervous. However, most guests do not have a problem with our parking. Free street parking is also usually available.
Can I meet a friend or business associate at the inn?
Sorry, no. To assure guest safety, privacy, and tranquility, Casa Laguna is a closed compound with all rooms, grounds, pool, food, and services reserved for the enjoyment and use of registered guests only. With the exception of rare charity events, no parties, gatherings, or outside visitors are allowed.
