Create Your Own Artistic Keepsake at the Sawdust Studio Art Classes

Casa Laguna Inn & Spa is now offering a special package for art lovers that includes tickets to the Laguna Art Museum; and, the opportunity to create your own artistic keepsake of your trip to Laguna Beach, under the tutelage of a professional art instructor. I recently had the opportunity to participate in one of the new Sawdust Studio Art Classes, created in partnership with the Laguna Beach Visitors and Conference Bureau. Class choices change weekly, but always include a choice of jewelry-making or ceramics classes. I chose the water-casting class, taught by Erin Elowe of Saturn 5 Studio, and ended up with the beautiful one-of-a-kind silver alloy pendant you see in the photograph—plus the wonderful experience of learning how to do water-casting and jewelry mounting. I also visited the ceramics shop to view some of the creations being produced by the students in those classes and found beautiful items ranging from teapots to Sushi sets – each with a unique and very personal touch. The profits from these classes go to support the efforts of the non-profit Sawdust Festival organization which produces the world-renown Sawdust Festival each summer, the Winter Fantasy Festival (featuring over 170 artists and craftspeople), the Spring In to Art Festival (which offers a broader, more in-depth group of art classes), and the Imagination Celebration, which is designed to engage young students in the personal world of art. The new Sawdust Studio Art Class series is a year-round program of Friday & Saturday limited-attendance workshops with one-on-one instruction, held on the Sawdust Festival Grounds. It’s a unique opportunity for Laguna Beach visitors to learn jewelry-making or ceramics from an expert, and come away with their own very personal artistic creation. When you stay at Casa Laguna Inn & Spa, you can include these classes in your stay, by choosing our Passion for Art package, which provides exceptional pricing for your room stay, class tuition, and Laguna Art Museum Tickets. The special is available only when you make your reservations directly through our front desk at 1-800-233-0449, and ask for the Passion for Art package. Certain restrictions apply. Just go to our web site and click on “Specials” (after November 5), then navigate to “Passion for Art” to learn more.  For additional information about the classes and the Sawdust Art Festival organization, visit
